The 3 Key Things for Beautiful Healthy Skin

April 19, 2011 Leave a comment
Who doesn’t want radiant, glowing, youthful looking skin? The good
news is that you can have it if you make a point to incorporate these
three essential things into your diet: nutrition, exercise, and quality
skin care products. Let’s start on working from the inside out.
Your Diet
What you eat plays a very important role on the quality of your
skin. If you eat a lot of junk foods and greasy fast foods, then
chances are your skin will reflect your diet choices. Greasy foods will
give you greasy skin, and junk foods that are filled with preservatives
and other junk will only age your skin all the more.
Skin-safe foods are all about supplying the right nutrients to your
body so that you are able to maintain healthy skin. Fish like salmon
and cod are loaded with Omega-3 fatty acids which both moisturize our
skin, and fight off free radicals and other toxins that can cause early
aging.
Green tea is also loaded with anti oxidants and vitamins C, D, and K.
Berries are becoming the new super food as they offer a whole lot of
benefits for several different areas of our body. Black berries,
raspberries, strawberries and cranberries are all loaded with anti
oxidants as well as fiber and vitamins.
Thank your parents for making you eat your broccoli when you were
younger! This vegetable is high in vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, and
is loaded with calcium and fiber. This vegetable is particularly great
for anyone with problematic skin, as vitamin A will help decrease the
oil production of your skin, vitamin K helps prevent bruising and
blemishes, and vitamin C helps fight off the signs of aging as it is an
anti oxidant.
Your Exercise
You don’t have to throw in 1 hour hardcore work out sessions to help
benefit your skin, but moving certainly will help. When you get your
body moving, you get your circulation going. Having good circulation is
important as it is our blood that transports the nutrients we obtain
from food to different areas of our body, including our skin.
Having a 30 minute walk a day, going for a bike ride, or even doing
some household chores like sweeping and vacuuming are some easy ways to
incorporate more exercise into your life.
Your Skincare Regime
You would not believe how many women do not follow a proper skincare
regime! All skin should be cleansed with an appropriate cleansing
product that is made for your skin type. A toner should be used, as
should a quality hydrating moisturizing cream.
There are a whole lot of different products out there, so focus on
what your skin type is before buying any skin care products and go from
there. Different skin types require different care. A teenager’s skin
is by no means the same as the skin of a 75 year old woman, so you need
to be sure to choose products that are tailored to your needs.

Health And Beauty Benefits Of Aloe Vera

April 7, 2011 Leave a comment
For centuries aloe vera has been recognized as being good for our
health, but just how good for our health is often not known to most.
Apart from using aloe vera on our sun burns to help soothe and heal
them, most of us don’t come in contact with aloe vera apart from
perhaps seeing it as an additive in some sort of moisturizing product.
The amount of health and beauty
benefits that we can enjoy from aloe vera is astonishing. Aloe vera is
not only hydrating, it’s regenerating, meaning that it does have anti
aging properties contained within it. Many people who drink aloe vera
juice on a regular basis swear that they are not nearly as ill as they
used to be, and they feel more positive as a result of drinking it.
How Aloe Vera can Improve our Immune System
Aloe vera is a natural detoxifying agent. What this means is that
drinking or consuming aloe vera in any form will help get rid of the
free radicals in our body that are responsible for making us ill.
Aloe vera also helps cleanse out both our digestive system and our
circulatory system. By drinking aloe vera, our body is better able to
absorb nutrients into the blood stream and transport those nutrients to
other areas of our body. This nutrient and oxygen-rich blood helps
support the cells that dictate how healthy our body’s are, and it keeps
our bodies looking young. Aloe vera also helps:
  • Fight off infections
  • Kill off harmful bacteria that may be in the body
  • Rejuvenate our body
How Aloe Vera will Make you Younger
As mentioned earlier, aloe vera will naturally help your body dispel
any free radicals that are in our bodies. Free radicals cause a number
of health issues, such as cancer, but they also cause premature aging.
By getting rid of these free radicals, you are helping free yourself of
toxic agents that would otherwise be significantly aging your entire
body.
But you don’t only have to consume aloe vera to enjoy the anti aging
benefits of it. You can apply it directly to your skin too to make
yourself look more youthful and refreshed. Any sort of aloe vera cream
or aloe vera lotion will quickly penetrate through several layers of
skin and hydrate it, thus keeping it more youthful in appearance.
You don’t only have to use some commercially made aloe vera cream on
your skin, though. The best way to use aloe vera is to use it straight
from the source: directly from the aloe vera plant. Snipping off a leaf
and exposing the inner gel of the leaf will provide you with the aloe
vera you need to apply to your skin to keep it youthful and refreshed.
Remember that if you do suffer any degree of sunburn that you should
also take an aloe vera leaf and apply it to that skin to not only
instantly cool it down, but to hydrate it and to expedite the healing
process.

The Best Herbs and Herbal Beauty Products for Your Body

April 5, 2011 Leave a comment
Anyone can look gorgeous at the hand of a professional cosmetician
or beautician, but once that make up flakes and fades many people are
quick to recognize their flaws and wish for a long-term permanent
solution.
Not only that, but several make up products out there can actually age your skin faster than if you were to not use them at all!
As more people realize just how detrimental make up can truly be for
our skin, they are turning to more natural and holistic methods of
maintaining their beauty. Because of this, herbal beauty products are
being snagged off of the store shelves at an explosive rate.
Some benefits to herbal beauty products include:
  • Large selection of different beauty products
  • Herbal beauty products are skin-friendly
  • Most herbal products have zero side effects
  • Herbal products contain natural vitamins and minerals that are necessary for keeping our skin texture and tone at its best
Most herbal beauty products also contain no fragrances, no artificial colors or dyes, and are cruelty free.
Here are some of the most popular herbal remedies that people are using to keep themselves naturally beautiful:
Natural Sunscreen: Did you know that you can
actually use herbs to help protect your skin from the sun? Herbs such
as calendula, chamomile, green tea, linden and rosemary are natural
ways to both keep your skin protected from those damaging UV rays and
to revitalize your skin.

TIP: Use one of these natural herbs under your moisturizer rather than a store-bought sunscreen as a healthy alternative.

Lip Balm: Aloe Vera is an obvious choice for anyone
wanting to add a bit more moisture to their lips. Other herbs that work
wonderfully in keeping your lips plump and moist include beeswax, bee
propolis, apricot, castor oil, camphor, golden seal, jojoba oil,
menthol, Icelandic moss and squalane.

NOTE: Many lip balms, though they may
be herbal, do test on animals. Try your best to find a cruelty-free lip
balm – there are several different choices out there!

Shampoos and Conditioners: Many of those commercial
“herbal” shampoos and conditioners are, in fact, NOT herbal at all. To
find a true herbal shampoo or conditioner, try visiting a natural
health store and pick products that contain the following nourishing
herbs: Aloe Vera, chamomile, comfrey, jojoba oil, burdock, coconut oil,
rose hips, rosemary, marshmallow, and sage. These herbs will even cure
those who have persistent dandruff issues as they naturally drench
one’s scalp in moisture and balance pH levels.
Facial Cleanser: Yes, herbal beauty products can
even remove the most stubborn of make up that you may use on a daily
basis! Look for facial cleansers that contain any of the following
herbs: Nettle, calendula, St. John’s wort, rose hips. The best of
facial cleaners also contain distilled water and vegetable-based
glycerol

TIP: For an all natural moisturizer, try using a serum cream or even olive oil to rehydrate your skin.

The best thing about these herbal beauty products is that you can
even make your very own herbal beauty products at home! Look up some
fun ways you can incorporate different herbs you have around your home
into your beauty routine.

Simple Ways to Clear Acne

April 5, 2011 Leave a comment
What’s Acne?

Acne is a term that’s used to describe whiteheads, blackheads,
and pimples. (You may well recognize slang terms like spots, or zits).
Most teenagers get the type of acne called acne vulgaris, which can
show up on the face, neck, shoulders, back, and chest. Skin pores contain oil glands which naturally lubricate your skin and hair. But sometimes if a pore gets clogged beneath the skin with excess oil and bacteria, the dreaded acne is caused…

Whiteheads happen when a pore gets clogged, closes, and then
bulges out. If a pore gets clogged but stays open, the top may darken
and you’ve got a blackhead. A pimple happens when dead skin and
bacteria work their way under live skin. This leads to a small
infection that makes your skin look red. Get glowing!

What Causes Acne?

Although everyone is different, acne is usually caused by the
build up of oil and dead skin in a pore. This build up of oil and dead
skin is caused because of:
  • Natural hormones. These are particularly active in your teens.
  • Plugged skin. Lots of skin cells can close the oil glands or pores, creating blackheads or whiteheads, (as mentioned earlier).
  • Bacteria. Bacteria can easily infect oil glands and pores and grow very quickly.
  • Family background. If you have acne, your kids are more likely to have it too.
How To Reduce An Acne Problem

  • You shouldn’t squeeze, pick, scratch, or rub your skin as it makes the problem worse, and it might even cause scarring.
  • Regularly shampoo your hair, and try to keep it off your face if possible – especially at night.
  • Keep a food diary to work out if you are one of the few people whose acne gets worse if they eat certain things.
  • Exercise regularly to get the old blood flowing, and make sure you get a wash as soon after as possible.
  • Avoid unnecessarily touching your face.
  • If possible, try to minimize your stress levels.
  • Avoid getting sunburned.
  • Change your wash cloth every day, as bacteria can grow on damp cloth.
  • Wash your face twice a day with a gentle soap like Dove or Lever 2000.
  • Always rinse really well with lots of water.
  • Only wear makeup on special occasions, and then make sure you remove it completely.
  • Granular facial scrub can make acne worse by aggravating the skin.
Medication For Extreme Cases

Oral antibiotics

Oral antibiotics have a high success rate, and can be safely used
for up to a year. It can take up to six months to fully take effect,
but there should be a noticeable difference within six weeks. Oral
Antibiotics include erythromycin, minocycline and tetracycline
Antibacterial cream

Benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria which causes inflammation. It
is available over the counter in 2.5%, 5% and 10% creams and lotions.
It is available in gels in the same percentages but only by
prescription. Clinically, there’s not much difference between the
effectiveness of the various strengths and types used.
NOTE: Unfortunately, there can be some side effects of
the use of Benzyol peroxide, including hypersensitivity, irritation,
and contact dermatitis (although these are very rare). Remember to
always keep Benzoyl peroxide away from clothing as it has a bleaching
effect.

Vitamin C Skin Care: The Ultimate Defense Against Age

April 5, 2011 Leave a comment
An apple a day may keep us from becoming sick because of the vitamin
C, but vitamin C is also essential for the health and quality of our
skin. If you are surprised to hear that vitamin C skin care is becoming
all the rage recently, don’t be. There are a couple of great reasons
why vitamin C skin care products are on the rise, such as:
It is a natural antioxidant. What does this mean
for you? This means that your skin is being protected by the
pollutants, toxins and other environmental factors that can be damaging
our skin and causing it to age prematurely. Vitamin C for our skin,
much as it does inside of our bodies, acts as a sort of “first defense”
against these toxins.
It contains collagen. Collagen, as most women know
by now, is an ingredient that can help prevent the appearance of aging.
Vitamin C is important as it facilitates the formation, maintenance,
and stability of collagen. So if you want the collagen in your body to
perform properly, be sure to get a healthy dose of vitamin C
Now before you invest in a bag of oranges and apples to eat to help
improve your skin, bear in mind that though vitamin C is important on
the inside of the body, when you ingest products with vitamin C your
skin will not reap the benefits of vitamin C as it would should the
vitamin C be topically applied to the skin.
Eating a lot of vitamin C actually will not boost the level of
Vitamin C that reaches your skin. That is why it is important to invest
in vitamin C skin care products so that you can reap the benefits of
this important vitamin.
Other than have anti-aging properties, some other benefits to vitamin C skin care include:
– Natural sunscreen protection against UVA and UVB rays
– Reduction of redness of the skin (this is great for those with rosacea)
– Prevention of the creation of abnormal skin cells, thus reducing your risk of skin cancer
All in all, using a vitamin C skin care product is truly the
ultimate age fighter as it prevents the signs of aging in a natural and
effective way.
If you are interested in trying a vitamin C skin care product, why
not try making your own? You can make your very own vitamin C skin care
treatment with just a bit of vitamin c powder (any where from 1/8 to ¼
of a teaspoon) and aloe vera gel. Take a dopple of aloe vera gel and
add the vitamin C powder.
Once you have mixed the two ingredients in with one another, apply
it to your face just as you would any skin cream. You can use this
vitamin C skin care treatment in the morning or at night before you to
go bed. This is also a great aftershave lotion for men and women alike,
so be sure to share this skin saving secret with your spouse!

What Foods Make Your Breasts Bigger?

April 4, 2011 Leave a comment
If you ask ever woman on the planet if she’s content with her
current breast size, chances are she’ll tell you, “no”. Though most
women do not dislike the appearance of their breasts all together, they
certainly do see room for improvement.
As time goes on, breasts begin to sag; they lose their firmness and
their shape; they “deflate”. Some women may be willing to undergo
surgery to correct this sign of aging, but several either do not have
the monetary funds to do so or are not brave enough to do it.
You do not have to live with a flat chest forever, even if you do
hate the idea of surgery. There is some evidence that certain foods
will actually boost your breasts naturally over time.

TIP: The key here is to recognize that food will be a
slow process in breast growth. Consider how much weight you may gain if
you do quickly change your diet just to grow larger breasts more
quickly.

Soy Products

It is said that soy-related products that contain the soy protein
will help increase your bust size. Soy does have a natural plant-form
of estrogen in it, which will help stimulate breast growth.

Some sources of soy include:

  • Tofu
  • Edamame beans (soy beans)
  • Garden “veggie” burgers (with soy) and other meat-replacement foods
  • Soy milk
  • Soy fortified products

Yeast Products

Some women have claimed that adding more yeast to their diet also
added more to their breasts. Though it is not entirely known how yeast
may cause breast growth, it is suspected that the yeast stimulates
tissue growth and some water retention that will enhance your bust as a
result. Some foods that contain yeast include:
  • Beer
  • Pasta
  • Pizza
  • Bread
  • Buns
  • Cakes
  • Cookies

Dairy Products

Dairy products work in numerous ways to help increase your breast
size. One is that eating a lot of dairy products will add more weight
to your overall body, which in turn can potentially increase your
breast size. Low fat dairy products have been shown to slim your waist,
which can make your natural breasts how they are now appear larger as a
result.

Lastly, dairy products often still contain growth hormones that
were injected into the cow. When passed on to humans, these hormones
can have a similar effect.

Some dairy products to consider consuming to add more inches to your bust include:

  • Milk
  • Yogurt
  • Cheese

Water

That’s right, some women swear by staying hydrated to keep their
breasts full and perky. Keeping your body hydrated will undoubtedly
keep your cells healthy and keep your entire body more youthful
overall. Be sure to get your 8 to 10 glasses of water a day; it’s your
key to eternal youth and beauty!

Before considering any drastic change to your diet, such as adding
or increasing dairy or soy protein foods to your meals, it is important
to discuss your weight and body image goals with a professional
practitioner.
