Border clashes don’t impact SCB branches in Cambodia

BANGKOK, Feb 11 – The corder clashes between Cambodia and
Thailand have not affected operations of Siam Commercial Bank (SCB)
branches located in the neighboring country, according SCB president
Kannikar Chalitaporn.

She said four SCB branches in Cambodia, the the bank is known as
Cambodia Commercial Bank, remain open for service as usual although the
border clashes took place recently.

The bank branches had not been affected by the fighting because they
are located in urban areas, which are far from the clash spot.

Still, she said, officials of the bank’s headquarters had been sent to
inspect the branches and communicate with their colleagues at the
branches on the latest developments there.

Nawaporn Maharagkaga, senior director of the BoT Financial Institutions
Strategy Department, said the border clashes between Cambodian and Thai
troops had neither impacted Thai bank branches in Cambodia nor dampened
profits earned by commercial banks.

Operating performances of the commercial banks depends mainly on
domestic lending and economic growth of the country, she said. (MCOT
