Border toll: 3 killled, 22 wounded

Three people were killed and 22 others wounded
in Thailand during the border fighting between Thai and Cambodian
soldiers from Feb 4-6, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department
chief Wiboon Sanguanpong reported on Thursday.
The three fatalities were two soldiers and one civilian.
Of the 22 wounded, 14 were soldiers and eight civilians.
The cross-border shelling destroyed seven houses completely and damaged 28 others.
Two buildings at Phum Srol School in tambon Sao Thong Chai of
Kantharalak district of Si Sa Ket province were partly damaged, so was
the office of the Sao Thong Chai tambon administration organisation
(TAO).
The artillery shelling from Cambodia  also damaged 50 rai of rubber plantations.
A total of 21,720 villagers and eight Buddhist monks were evacuated to 37 holding centres in 10 districts of Si Sa Ket province.
A relief centre was set up in Kantharalak district to take donations and distribute relief supplies to affected people.
Also evacuated from border villages for safety were 5,655 people in Surin and 3,650 people in Ubon Ratchathani.
The people have since gradually returned to their homes after the situation improved, Mr Wiboon said.
