Border fighting starts again

Thai and Cambodian troops have once again
exchanged fire along the border area near Preah Vihear temple in Si Sa
Ket’s Kantharaluck district. The round of border fighting started about
6.40pm on Sunday, reports said.
Army spokesman Col Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Cambodian troops fired
artillery into Thailand soil at Chong Done Aow, forcing Thai soldiers
to fire back. He confirmed that the gun-battle is still continuing.
He said while the fighting continued, high ranking military officers
of the Army Region 2 were holding talks with Cambodian army commanders
in the region to find ways to stop the border fighting, according to
the reports.
Villagers in border district of Bhumisaron in Si Sa Ket were evacuated to safety shelters in the district, the reports said.
Thailand and Cambodia had on Saturday afternoon reached a ceasefire
agreement and both sides promised not to increase troops along the
border areas.
No report on casualty and fatality for the moment.
