Two journalists (pictured) from two unknown newspapers have been arrested by Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district police after they went to pick up $100 from a man near Sen Sok Market on Monday afternoon.

Thong
Dara, editor of Nokor Santepheap (City of Peace) newspaper and Chum
Bunheap, editor of Ponleu Sereipheap (Light of Freedom) were charged
with fraud and extortion of money from an official of an electricity company from Sen Sok district.

Police
said that the pair posed as officials from the government’s Electricite

electricitycompany. However, the man only agreed to give $100. They were arrested when they went to pick up the money at an appointed location in Sen Sok district.
